Reproduction steps

  1. Go to totw or foremans
  2. Run through the dungeon without stopping to kill anything
  3. Reverse course
  4. Observe mobs running into walls or other geometry trying to either reach where you were at one point or their original spawn
  5. Exit the dungeon, in my case I was the only player present and warped out
  6. Re enter the dungeon and go to the spawns of those mobs running into walls
  7. Locate the mobs previously running into walls, they will usually be somewhere around their spawn, sometimes close to doors and cannot be killed

Expected results

mobs returning to their spawn after leashing to be killable

Actual results

mobs are put into a zombie like state, they do not aggro and cannot be killed

Bug prevalence

sometimes

Description & Attachments

emphasis on the sometimes, this one is hard to reproduce reliably. the steps are only my approximation of what happens after a good while of running, and will likely need to be refined.

the results of this issue are pretty easy to spot though, usually 1 or 2 mobs in the early totw spinal hallways are frozen after the server is on for a while and players train through these dungeons. the foremans hotspot is generally the path in between the entrance and sewer shortcut, the open glass panel on the western path/turning right after the entrance hall.

there is 2 variants of this issue that i have seen so far

mobs running to walls after being dragged somewhere. this kind is more visual, the mob will pop back to where it should be if you return to its spawn

l5.PNG

or the more problematic version where mobs become unresponsive

l1.PNG
l4.PNG

in my experience the first version, mobs being dragged into walls, leads them into the unresponsive state after reloading

i've found mobs stuck inside walls after being dragged without reloading but this seems rare, only seen it once

Confirmed. Mobs sometimes are getting stuck in leashing state.

Still dealing with this - daily .pf resets are required to fix it and will most likely only get worse the more players we get. Leaving this on Prio-2 as of now.

A fix has been pushed that should result in much better leashing behavior. NPCs should no longer get stuck while in the Leashing state.

Note that they do sometimes still get stuck in Guarding, that will be a future update.

Tested before and after PR - couldn't observe any NPCs being stuck in leashing state so far.

Cautiously closing this as fixed :)
