I experienced the same with:

The powerful pulse wipes your NCU!

but no nanos being wiped.

.set debug 1 shows
[21:13:16][Oatbh2] Nano added: 273194 Machine/.

[21:13:16][Oatbh2] Nano removed: 273194 Machine/.

which should correspond to https://portal.project-rk.com/srv/ithaca/db/items/273194 which isn't doing anything atm, except a visual AOE pulse effect.
